The track is however a sultry-smooth one where they both bragged about their manly prowess, with Banky W claiming he is a Bedroom Warrior (as if holding the Mr. The R&B crooner, Banky W joins 9ice on the subsequent track, in an effort to “increase the tempo”. It is the first track to receive airplay after the album dropped. The song “On Point” is just as the title implies. The album didn’t peak until track 3, where he featured Wizkid on a dancehall beat. It is a good but slow start to the album. Versus opened with “Beautiful” featuring Tuface. 9ice is definately on a roll but no one should be surprised – he promised to release 5 albums. And unlike Darey’s which was buttressed with acoustic versions, 9ice’s two albums have very different songs. Having as much as 9 singles out is risky but both albums have a total of 36 tracks (no skit, no intro/outro). It took 9ice another 2 years but he constantly whetted people’s appetite with more singles from the Versus album and then some from the Bashorun Gaa album. But when the year ended and not even Versus dropped, 9ice called his own bluff. Personally, I thought he had been hanging out too much with his fuji music brethren. It sounded outrageous (what I don’t remember however, is if he made the said announcement on April Fool’s day). Initially, 9ice bluffed about releasing 5 albums before the year (2009) runs out. It wasn’t much of a battle though, as both artistes complemented rather than outshine each other. The final version of the album art had the words “the battle line is drawn” added to it. As the title implies, the Versus album features 9ice going against another artiste on each of the tracks on the album. The anticipation had been huge, much of it induced by the graphic animation album art showing 9ice being tugged at by several artistes featured on the album. Versus takes the fourth position because it was due out a few months after Tradition when 9ice released the singles “Loni ni”, “Atasemase” and “Shafarawe”. These new releases, Versus and Bashorun Gaa makes it his fourth and fifth albums respectively. It’s been over a year since he released his third album, Tradition. 9ice’s latest offering sees him toeing the path of Lagbaja and Darey with the release of a double album.
